Qualifications paper discussions

In order to pass a qualification, they even discuss this very issue!

Excellent question ~ I wonder what the answer is!

News and More

Okay, so only Metro, the local city paper, but still backing up the thoughts and processes of Qualify Me....

http://www.metro.co.uk/news/855389-38-of-graduates-blame-courses-for-being-on-dole

All about how 38% of students who have qualified are now on the dole, and blame set courses for this. Point in point. Is it the courses, or lack of guidance provided to young 18 year olds that cause the problems? Is it the fact that people who are writing and have expertise in the courses, which provide the ultimate qualifications, are dated and too old for the times that are moving at break-neck speed?

Too much? I am not sure. What we do know is the labour government insisted on making 50% of all young people graduates, ensuring courses were produced to make this happen to the cross sector society of young people needing a degree (for sure, a degree will get you a job post-uni), therefore pointless courses created, pointless degree's succeeded, people out of jobs... 38% of all uni graduates agreeing....

And we continue

Have finally added Qualify Me onto my biography, so I am hoping this year I should start to show progress. The problem with this campaign is that the Con-Dem government are actually doing something about this issue! Apprenticeships are actually being advised and offered by more organisations than ever before, and more than this, big-wigs are actually campaigning for it. More than this, full organisations are setting up in support such as http://www.apprenticeships.org.uk/ which is just great.

I may think then that there would be no use for the Qualify Me campaign, but I still think there is work to be done. We still need to challenge Society's views of using qualifications to 'judge' people in their abilities, and their skills. Which I don't think they always necessarily do. Mmmm, thinking cap back on.

The Beginning

And so I begin...

Qualify Me is a campaign derived from working in a world, in a society, to which Qualifications determine one's entire life, fortune, and future. They correctly assess how far we as humans can work, interact, be perceived and judged ~ what other way can you ensure the right person is employed, or the right student invested in, or the right captain of industry promoted?... Ah ha.

Although Qualify Me does not negate how society has successfully incorporated qualifications in determining these factors ~ surely, in 2011, there also has to be other factors to consider, other aspects to explore in a human being that can determine their status in society and how much we as society invest in them as people.

I am hoping this campaign will begin slowly ~ building support and interest and hopefully ideas on how to amend, change or even work alongside qualifications in order to 'judge' people. What about those who for whatever reason do not excel at school? Shall they be sidelined for life because we deem them unable to contribute to our exams and dissertations? What about those who have continued personal development, those with money to have qualifications without a brain, or that generation that has worked for 30 or 40 years without qualifications but now cannot excel in today's world without sitting some formal test or exam? Are they all redundant?

And so the discussions begin. x
